According to police statistics, there were 1,576 motorcycle traffic accidents in the Jeonbuk area over the past four years, resulting in 91 deaths and 1,961 injuries. Accordingly, to strengthen enforcement against violations such as reckless driving, speeding, and signal violations by motorcycles, rear enforcement equipment will be operated.

A total of four rear enforcement devices will be operated starting January next year. The locations are ▲ Wansan Fire Station Intersection, Samcheon-dong, Jeonju-si ▲ Geonsan-ro 72 Intersection, Inhu-dong, Jeonju-si (between the Workers' Welfare Corporation and Ajunggyo Bridge) ▲ Susong Intersection, Susong-dong, Gunsan-si ▲ Entrance Intersection of Dong Elementary School, Yeongdeung-dong, Iksan-si.

The rear unmanned traffic enforcement equipment uses AI (artificial intelligence) video analysis technology to detect reckless driving such as speeding and captures the rear license plate for enforcement. Therefore, enforcement is possible for motorcycles and other two-wheeled vehicles as well as four-wheeled vehicles.

The existing equipment captured the front license plate of vehicles, making it difficult to enforce violations by motorcycles without front license plates.

Kim Myeong-gyeom, head of the Traffic Safety Division, stated, "We plan to additionally install six rear devices next year to eradicate acts threatening pedestrian safety and traffic safety." He added, "In consultation with local governments, we plan to increase rear license plate enforcement equipment in child and elderly protection zones."
