On the 14th, Headquarters Held 'Quantum' Launch Event

Bodyfriend unveiled the massage chair ‘Quantum,’ which enhances usability with 49 massage programs and a 10-inch FHD tablet. Bodyfriend plans to increase the proportion of healthcare robot products to 58% by next year, starting with this launch.

On the morning of the 14th, Bodyfriend held the Quantum launch event on the first floor of its headquarters at Dogok Tower in Gangnam, Seoul.
Quantum showcases technological differentiation with its ‘Robo Walking Technology.’ Each Quantum contains 3,158 high-tech components. Suhyun Cho, Executive Director and Head of Bodyfriend Healthcare Medical R&D Center, explained, “There are 75 air cells that passed quality system tests after 200,000 durability tests. We continuously tested modules and motors for 1,500 hours by seating a dummy weighted to mimic the human body.” Quantum incorporates 13 patented technologies and 28 intellectual property rights.
The healthcare programs alone number 49. They are composed of ‘Robo Mode,’ which directly induces leg movement; ‘Health Mode,’ which includes signature programs such as healthcare massage and brain massage; and ‘Auto Mode,’ which provides massages tailored to the user’s body parts, characteristics, and conditions. In addition to the ‘Spine Line Mode’ for modern people, a newly added ‘Soft Spine Line Mode’ allows seniors with fragile bones to use it comfortably. The massage balls use the ‘XD-Pro’ heated 3D module. The massage range is divided into 80 steps, moving 1.25 mm at a time. This precise movement enables massages that feel like human hands.
A separate 10-inch FHD integrated tablet allows users to adjust XD intensity, massage speed, and rolling speed on one screen during the massage. From a distance, the angle of the massage chair and heat control for each area can be managed via a slider at the bottom of the screen. User profiles can be saved for up to eight people. Additionally, the chair includes 15 safety sensors, an electrostatic protection button, and a wireless phone charging function.
In partnership with Bang & Olufsen, speakers are optionally installed. Even when not receiving a massage, users can listen to music through the ‘Entertainment Mode.’ This option-equipped product is scheduled for release early next year.
The sales target for Quantum next year is 30 billion KRW. Bodyfriend aims to raise the share of healthcare robot products from the current 13% to 58% next year, starting with Quantum. Executive Director Seungho Song cautiously predicted, “I expect this year to clearly distinguish between general massage chairs and healthcare robots equipped with Bodyfriend’s Robo Walking Technology. We have ambitions to make this a year to re-enter the overseas market, which has been somewhat sluggish until now, through healthcare robot products.” The initial goal is to achieve 5% of sales overseas and expand it to 20% within three years.
Vice Chairman Sungkyu Ji stated, “We will continue to introduce the best products based on innovative technology, and through technology, design, quality, service, and customer satisfaction, we will do our best to realize the dream of extending customers’ healthy lifespan by 10 years.”
