Saudi Minister Visits Doosan Enerbility Changwon Plant

Korean Companies Inspect Industry Ahead of Korea-Saudi Industrial Ministers Meeting
Strengthening Cooperation for Completion of Saudi Arabia's Largest Forging Factory

On the 14th, the Saudi Arabian minister visited Doosan Enerbility's headquarters at the Changwon plant in Gyeongnam.

Accompanying the visit were Bandar Al Korayef, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Sultan Al Saud, CEO of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF), Saad Al Kalb, CEO of the Saudi Export-Import Bank, and other investment institution officials.

The visit by the Saudi ministerial delegation, held ahead of the Korea-Saudi Industrial Ministers' meeting, aimed to inspect Korean companies operating in Saudi Arabia. Last year, Doosan Enerbility signed an EPC construction contract worth 1 trillion KRW for a casting and forging plant in Saudi Arabia, and is currently building the largest Tuwaiq casting and forging plant in Saudi Arabia, targeting completion in 2025.

The ministerial delegation toured Doosan Enerbility’s forging plant, turbine plant, and nuclear plant production sites in sequence, examining key production facilities and products. Afterwards, they held a meeting with Doosan Enerbility President Jeong Yeon-in and the management team. The Doosan Enerbility executives shared the current status of the casting and forging plant under construction in Saudi Arabia and the products that can be manufactured there in the future, while also explaining Doosan Enerbility’s major businesses such as SMR, gas turbines, and wind power.

President Jeong said, “Doosan Enerbility has built trust and grown by carrying out large-scale projects in Saudi Arabia since the 1970s. We will continue to cooperate for the successful construction of the Tuwaiq casting and forging plant and hope to create more business opportunities in power plants, seawater desalination plants, and more in the future.”

Doosan Enerbility took its first step into the seawater desalination business by supplying equipment for the Farasan project in Saudi Arabia in 1978. It completed the Ras Al Khair seawater desalination plant, the largest in Saudi Arabia, and the Rabigh power plant, the largest single thermal power project ever. Last year, it signed contracts worth over 2.3 trillion KRW in Saudi Arabia for casting and forging plants, power generation, and seawater desalination plants.
