Interpark Books analyzed the 2023 reading trends as "A Glimpse into the Lives of Life Seniors" while settling the book sales for this year.
According to the analysis of Interpark book sales and key keywords, terms such as "self-development for myself" and "still young at forty" attracted attention. Sales of self-development books increased by more than 17% compared to the same period last year. In the bestseller rankings, the self-development book Seino's Teachings took first place, followed by books reflecting on the meaning and direction of life, such as Future Self, Mary Gold Mind Laundry, and All Life Flows, ranking high.
Books with the keyword forty, such as Kim Mi-kyung's Forty Lessons for Those Who Think It's Already Too Late and If I Lived My Life Again, also ranked high, continuing the trend of viewing the 40s and 50s as a new beginning and turning point.
Interpark Books recommended resonant books for 2024. Along with essays by experts actively working in their fields, such as baseball manager Kim Sung-geun's Life Is a Moment and the translation by Hwang Seok-hee, Schopenhauer to Read at Forty was also selected as a must-read. Additionally, works by notable authors such as Golden Paper 1, Radio Exercise, and National Museum Pilgrimage 1: From Prehistoric Times to Goguryeo, which help with history study for the New Year, were recommended for reading.
