Gachon University is changing its College of Humanities to the ‘AI College of Humanities’ and significantly reorganizing the department curricula in connection with AI to fully launch ‘AI+Humanities Convergence Education.’
On the 14th, Gachon University announced that one-third of the major curriculum in the AI College of Humanities will be replaced with AI and convergence courses.
According to the revised curriculum, out of 90 major credits, students will complete 60 credits in their chosen language major and the remaining 30 credits in AI-related courses.
Among the 30 credits, 15 credits will cover programming languages necessary for AI development, including ▲C++ ▲Python and machine learning ▲deep learning ▲AI linguistics.
To this end, professors from the AI and Software Department will newly develop AI courses specialized in the humanities and participate in the major education of the AI College of Humanities.
Gachon University aims to eliminate academic boundaries and strengthen convergence education by expanding the JA (Joint Appointment, faculty belonging to two or more departments) system, which has been actively promoted so far, to the humanities as well.
President Gil-yeo Lee of Gachon University said, "To respond to the AI era, Gachon University is actively conducting AI education and research regardless of majors, supporting small study groups on ‘Generative AI Teaching Methods’ involving professors and ‘Generative AI Learning Communities’ run directly by students." He added, "Through the establishment of the AI College of Humanities, we will nurture T-shaped talents who possess deep humanities expertise and broad background knowledge by utilizing AI and other IT professional technologies."
