Hyundai Wia Selected as ESG Company of the Year

Selected by the Environmental Foundation, Recipient of the 'Minister of Environment Award'

Hyundai Wia announced on the 14th that it has been selected as Korea's ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) Company of the Year. The company received the 'Minister of Environment Award,' the grand prize in the consumer goods manufacturing sector, at the '2023 Korea ESG Company of the Year Awards' hosted by the Environmental Foundation at the Environmental Foundation in Jung-gu, Seoul. The Environmental Foundation, together with the ESG evaluation agency Sustainable Development Lab, evaluated the ESG management performance of 800 listed companies in Korea to select the awardees.

Hyundai Wia was highly rated for actively practicing ESG management. The company plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2045 through activities such as installing solar panels at major business sites and expanding the purchase of renewable energy. It also joined the 'RE100 Initiative' last year.

Energy usage is also being minimized. The company monitors greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption at its business sites and has improved energy efficiency. To reduce waste and expand recycling, it is monitoring all processes from waste generation to transportation and disposal.

Efforts to create a safe workplace were also well evaluated. This year, Hyundai Wia declared a 'Safety and Health First Management Policy' and is focusing on safety management. By establishing and implementing the 'Top 10 Essential Safety Rules,' it has minimized serious accidents. The company has organized a separate Safety Management Committee and operates a Safety Report System to proactively prevent safety accidents and illnesses.

Hyundai Wia is also actively engaged in activities for mutual growth with local communities. Through its representative social activity program, 'Hyundai Wia Dream Car,' it has donated nearly 150 vehicles to welfare facilities near its business sites.
