Gwanak-gu Achieves Double Victory in 2023 Local Welfare Project Evaluation

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has achieved the remarkable feat of winning awards for four consecutive years in the '2023 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation' by implementing a welfare paradigm that shifts from supply-centered to relationship-centered.


The Regional Welfare Project Evaluation is conducted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to discover and spread excellent regional welfare cases by selecting and evaluating local governments that have improved the level of social security in their communities.


The Ministry of Health and Welfare conducts the 'Regional Welfare Project Evaluation' annually to discover and disseminate outstanding regional welfare cases and selects local governments that have enhanced the level of social security in their communities.


In this evaluation, Gwanak-gu received the Excellence Award in the 'Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services' category, achieving the honor for four consecutive years, and for the first time this year, it won the Excellence Award in the 'Operation of the Hope Welfare Support Group' category, achieving a double crown.


In the 'Provision of Visiting Health and Welfare Services' category, Gwanak-gu was highly evaluated for ▲establishing a solitary death prevention system linked with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management ▲activating the welfare blind spot discovery system ▲operating welfare safety nets and smart care systems ▲building an integrated health and welfare support system.


In the 'Operation of the Hope Welfare Support Group' category, the main reasons for the award included ▲strengthening public cooperation in welfare-police-safety case management ▲consulting to activate integrated case management ▲establishing a community resource management and sharing system ▲successful settlement of the homeless case management program "Hope Ribbon (Re-born)".


With this award, the district has once again been recognized as a leading local government in welfare administration.


Additionally, the district achieved excellent results in various evaluations conducted by external organizations this year, including ▲the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s top prize for best case in local government solitary death prevention projects ▲the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s encouragement award in the regional welfare best practice contest ▲the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s encouragement award for excellent proactive administration cases.


Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “The relationship-centered welfare policy through organic cooperation between the private and public sectors led to good results in this evaluation,” and added, “We will continue to strive to create a warm Gwanak community that embraces everyone.”
