Sacheon-si, First Baby Born in 12 Years Since Reopening of Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic

A baby was born in Sacheon, Gyeongnam, for the first time in 12 years, drawing attention.

The main character is the third child (female, 3.16 kg) of the Kim couple living in Sacheon-eup, who was born strong and healthy through a cesarean section at Cheonga Women’s Clinic on the 9th.

Cheonga Women’s Clinic is a medical institution operating an obstetrics and gynecology department for childbirth in the Sacheon area for the first time in 12 years. It was designated by Gyeongnam Province as a base medical institution in medically vulnerable areas to eliminate childbirth blind spots.

Sacheon City is the only city-level area in Gyeongnam Province without an obstetrics and gynecology department for childbirth, so pregnant women had no choice but to use obstetrics and gynecology clinics outside the area, about an hour away, for delivery.

Accordingly, Gyeongnam Province and Sacheon City invested a budget to open an obstetrics and gynecology department for childbirth at Cheonga Women’s Clinic, an existing outpatient obstetrics and gynecology clinic selected as a pilot project target.

The newly opened obstetrics and gynecology department for childbirth operates a labor room, delivery room, operating room, and recovery room on the second floor, and induces safe delivery by replacing and installing the latest medical equipment.

On the third floor, there are eight single inpatient rooms as well as a family delivery room where families can give birth in a warm and comfortable atmosphere together.

In particular, throughout the entire delivery process, husbands and families participate to experience family love and unity, and share the emotional moment when the father personally cuts the umbilical cord at the birth of the baby.

On the 13th, Sacheon City held a ceremony at Cheonga Women’s Clinic to celebrate the birth of the first baby after the opening of the delivery room, attended by the mayor, city council chairman, city council members, medical association, pharmaceutical association, Nonghyup, and Suhyup leaders.

On this day, the entire local community celebrated the birth of the first baby by delivering childbirth support funds and congratulatory gifts prepared together by local organizations.

Director Kim Jongchun said, “I am happy that such a precious and healthy child was born in this era of low birth rates,” and added, “We will create a professional and stable delivery environment to satisfy pregnant women and local residents in the future.”

Mayor Park Dongsik said, “I sincerely congratulate the birth of the first baby after the opening of the obstetrics and gynecology department for childbirth,” and added, “We will do our best to establish a stable delivery environment and infrastructure, essential medical facilities, to improve living conditions worthy of the aerospace capital of Korea.”
