At the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28), an agreement was reached on the so-called 'transition from fossil fuels,' which are the main cause of global warming.
On the 13th (local time), Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, COP28 President, declared at the conference held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), that the agreement prepared through two weeks of marathon negotiations had been finalized.
COP28 was originally scheduled to close the day before, but the deadline was extended due to the delay in reaching the final agreement.
