Pukyong National University Students Win 'Excellence Award and Special Award' at Creative Comprehensive Design Competition

2023 Engineering Festival Awards: 1 Excellence Award Team and 2 Special Award Teams

National Pukyong University (President Jang Young-su) produced one Excellence Award-winning team and two Special Award-winning teams at the ‘Creative Comprehensive Design Competition,’ held as part of the 2023 Engineering Festival (E2Festa 2023).

Hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Engineering Education Innovation Council, this recent online competition was held under the theme “Beyond Disruption to the Era of Creation, Engineering Natives Leading Future Industries.” A total of 172 teams from 73 universities nationwide participated, with preliminary and final rounds determining the ultimate awardees.


At this competition, National Pukyong University’s team ‘Nalttaraehaejo’ (leader Kang Dong-joo, 4th year, Biomedical Engineering IT Convergence major) received the Excellence Award, the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology President’s Award, along with a prize of 1 million KRW, for their project titled “Development of Acoustic Levitation Robotic Arm for Non-contact Work.”


Additionally, the team ‘Yak Meogeul Siganiro’ (leader Son Yeo-jin, 4th year, Electronic Engineering major) won a Special Award (Korea Women Engineers Association President’s Award) for their project “AI-based Palm Recognition Pill Dispenser,” and the team ‘E.B.S’ (Kim Sung-bin, 3rd year, Electrical Engineering major) received a Special Award (Korea Council of Engineering Deans President’s Award) for their project “Ah! My Eyes Are Opening.”


National Pukyong University, under the supervision of the Engineering Education Innovation Center, held preliminary rounds for the 2023 Hanmir Capstone Design Competition and the 2023 Creative Comprehensive Design Competition Consortium, selecting three teams to support their participation in the competition. All three teams achieved awards.


Son Min-young, head of the Engineering Education Innovation Center at National Pukyong University, stated, “We plan to continuously develop and operate creative and innovative engineering education programs to nurture outstanding engineers.”


National Pukyong University has been active in this competition, winning awards for three consecutive years, including consecutive Grand Prizes in 2021 and 2022.
