Kim Hong-il, the nominee for Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission, stated on the 13th, "I will work to ensure fairness and independence in broadcasting and telecommunications."

On the same day, Kim met with reporters upon arriving for his first day at an officetel in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, where his office has been set up to prepare for the confirmation hearing, and shared his thoughts.

When asked, "What do you think about the criticism regarding your lack of expertise as a former prosecutor?" he replied, "I am well aware of the concerns expressed by some."

However, Kim added, "Based on the legal knowledge and various regulatory experiences I have accumulated through my career in the legal profession and public service, I will diligently fulfill my duties to dispel such concerns."

When asked whether he would continue the policies on public broadcasting reform and fake news regulation, he responded, "Rather than regulation, I will faithfully and sincerely carry out the role entrusted to me."

Currently holding the position of Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, he expressed his intention to resign at an appropriate time amid concerns about holding concurrent positions.

Finally, when asked for his closing remarks, he said, "If I am appointed as Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission through the proper procedures, I will work diligently and earnestly to ensure fairness and independence in broadcasting and telecommunications."
