Two New 'Urban Public Housing Complex Districts' Selected Near Sagajeong Station and Yongma Tunnel
Construction Starts in 2027, Completion in 2030... Approximately 1,500 Households Expected to be Supplied
Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) has newly designated two areas near Sagajeong Station and Yongma Tunnel as 'Urban Public Housing Complex Districts.'
The urban public housing complex project is a public-led initiative to rapidly develop aging urban areas that require redevelopment for residential environment improvement but lack profitability for private redevelopment projects by designating them as specific districts.
The areas near Sagajeong Station and Yongma Tunnel were selected as candidate sites in May 2021 and have now been officially designated, showing the fastest progress among urban public housing complex projects in Jungnang-gu.
Both locations were designated as planned districts on August 24 and subsequently secured consent from more than two-thirds of residents to complete the district designation process. After integrated review, the complex project plan is expected to be approved in 2025, with construction starting in 2027 and completion in 2030.
Once completed, the two urban public housing complex districts will supply approximately 1,500 housing units.
Ryu Gyeong-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, stated, “The selection of urban public housing complex districts has accelerated housing development projects in Jungnang-gu. We will continue to do our best to pleasantly renovate low-rise residential areas and create a high-quality living environment that satisfies residents.”
Meanwhile, there are currently six urban public housing complex project sites in Jungnang-gu, including the two newly designated areas, Jungnang Station, Yongmasan Station, Sangbong Station, and the area near Sangbong Terminal.
