On the afternoon of the 11th, Jang Je-won, a member of the People Power Party, posted on his social media account, "Father, whom I miss! I am about to pause for a while," along with a photo. In political circles, this has been interpreted as his intention not to run in next year's general election. The message has drawn even more attention as it came amid ongoing demands from the party leadership, pro-Yoon (pro-Yoon Seok-yeol) factions, and senior lawmakers for him to either not run or to run in a difficult district. Jang is known as a key figure in the pro-Yoon faction.

On the same day, Jang stated, "I visited my father's grave." He said, "It has already been eight years since my father passed away," and added, "The more time passes, the clearer it becomes how great the legacy of faith my father left me is." He also added, "I realize that my father's tearful prayers were the strength that allowed me to live this far."
He continued, "No matter how pitch-dark the darkness that surrounds me may be, I believe in my father's faith that God is preparing something better and that I should pray," and wrote, "Father! I miss you. I love you." At the end of his message, Jang also posted a verse from Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through him who gives me strength."
Jang's father was the late Jang Sung-man, former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly. He was the founder of Dongseo Academy located in Sasang District, Busan, and served as a member of the 11th and 12th National Assembly.
