HD Hyundai Heavy, Foreign Worker Life Guidebook Published

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced on the 11th that it has published a customized living guidebook to help foreign workers adapt to life in Korea.

The HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Shared Growth Office recently produced a "Foreign Workers' Living Guidebook" in six languages: Vietnamese, Uzbek, Indonesian, Sinhala, Thai, and English.

This booklet contains everyday life information such as introductions to local ethnic restaurants, public transportation usage, cultural activities, and entertainment, along with instructions on how to respond in emergencies such as illness or accidents.

It also provides detailed information on the characteristics of Korean culture, dormitory status and facility usage, as well as a clear summary of frequently asked questions and answers, emergency contact numbers, and maps of major public facilities.

In particular, this guidebook draws attention by including basic shipbuilding-related vocabulary and conversations to help foreign workers communicate smoothly and work more safely at production sites.

In addition to the names of equipment, tools, and materials frequently used at production sites, the appendix contains detailed words and example sentences necessary for daily and work communication with Korean workers.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is distributing this booklet to about 100 in-house partner companies employing foreign workers and instructing them to place it in offices and break rooms. The booklet will also be provided during safety training for new employees.

Mr. Itti from Thailand (Youngjin Co., Ltd.) said, "There were many differences from Thailand, so life in Korea was not easy, but the guidebook seems to be a great help." He added, "If I have time on weekends, I plan to visit the travel destinations introduced in the booklet with my friends."

Jin-yul Noh, CEO of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (Head of Shared Growth Office), said, "Amid the recent shipbuilding order boom and the fast-paced progress of processes, foreign workers have greatly contributed to alleviating the manpower shortage at production sites." He added, "I hope this booklet will help foreign workers work safely and settle in the local community."

Meanwhile, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to review the employment status of foreign workers by country and consider producing additional guidebooks in other languages beyond the six currently available.
