Recognition for Supporting the Establishment of Safety Management Systems in SMEs

Korea National Oil Corporation (President Kim Dong-seop) received a commendation from the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office for its contributions to the Process Safety Management (PSM) technical support consulting project for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The SME PSM technical support consulting project is a program that provides customized consulting to SME workplaces with low PSM evaluation grades by utilizing the safety management know-how of workplaces with excellent PSM evaluation grades. This project was first implemented this year under the supervision of the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office.

All four oil storage bases of the Oil Corporation located in the central region (Pyeongtaek, Guri, Yongin, Donghae) participated in the PSM consulting support project as workplaces with the highest PSM grade (P). The PSM grades are divided into four levels (P-S-M+-M-), with the highest grade (P) awarded to only 95 out of 2,163 workplaces nationwide, about 4.3%, and are recognized as the highest level safety workplaces certified by the government in Korea.

From July to November this year, the oil storage bases directly visited the consulting target workplaces to conduct comprehensive consulting on PSM and actively transferred excellent process safety management know-how. All four storage bases received a commendation from the Central Regional Employment and Labor Office Director on the 8th for their contributions to supporting the establishment of safety management systems in SMEs.

The Oil Corporation plans to continue providing consulting support to SMEs based on the excellent PSM management capabilities of its storage bases and will also continue efforts to achieve ‘Industrial Accident ZERO’ through the establishment of safety and health management systems.
