Campaign to Promote Clean Livestock Farms to Prevent the Spread of Lumpiskin
On the 11th, Gyeongnam Nonghyup, together with Sacheon Livestock Cooperative, conducted the ‘Lumpy Skin Disease Prevention Clean Livestock Farm Campaign.’
Gyeongnam Nonghyup and Sacheon Livestock Cooperative are conducting a campaign to promote clean livestock farms to prevent the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease.
The campaign is being promoted to prevent the spread of livestock infectious diseases (Lumpy Skin Disease) through voluntary environmental management by livestock farms. Banners and posters are displayed at livestock cooperative offices nationwide to publicize the campaign, and key quarantine updates and essential management guidelines are sent daily via SMS until the eradication of Lumpy Skin Disease.
The key practices that livestock farms should focus on include ▲daily cleaning and maintaining cleanliness of barns and surrounding areas ▲thorough disinfection of barns, personnel, and vehicles ▲disinfection of compost sites and control of vector pests. Additionally, excellent practice cases will be continuously promoted to encourage more farms to participate.
Along with the campaign, Gyeongnam Nonghyup is implementing special winter quarantine measures against livestock infectious diseases, operating 86 teams of the Livestock Cooperative Joint Quarantine Unit and 12 teams of the NH Quarantine Unit at the highest level to fully concentrate on blocking the disease.
Kim Ju-yang, the head of the headquarters, stated, “The participation and efforts of livestock farms are essential for the early eradication of Lumpy Skin Disease,” and added, “Gyeongnam Nonghyup will also make every effort in guidance, education, and publicity to enhance the proactive quarantine capabilities of livestock farms and ensure compliance with quarantine rules.”
