Shilla University (President Heo Nam-sik), which operates the Busan Metropolitan City Temporary Youth Shelter (fixed type) on a consignment basis, received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award at the 19th Youth Blue Growth Awards Ceremony.
The 19th Youth Blue Growth Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, was held on the 6th at the International Youth Center International Conference Hall, where the Busan Temporary Youth Shelter, a consigned institution of Shilla University, achieved results in the adult (organization) category.
The Youth Blue Growth Awards are held annually to encourage adults who have dedicated themselves to the healthy growth of youth, exemplary youth peers, organizations, and institutions, and to share exemplary cases.
The shelter that won this time has been operated by Shilla University since its opening in 2005.
The shelter, which received the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Award this time, has provided customized services such as early detection of out-of-home youth, crime and delinquency prevention, and temporary protection.
The shelter was recognized for its contribution to the prompt return to family and social advancement, and was selected as the top institution nationwide for three consecutive times in the comprehensive evaluation of youth shelters by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, conducted every three years.
Lee Hye-young, director of the Busan Temporary Youth Shelter, said, “I believe this award is the result of the dedication of 11 shelter staff who have worked tirelessly day and night to support out-of-home youth,” and added, “We will continue to devote ourselves wholeheartedly to the healthy growth of youth in the Republic of Korea.”
The shelter, together with the Department of Social Welfare at Shilla University, has achieved many results to support the healthy growth of youth and to realize exemplary youth welfare. In addition, social welfare students are striving to develop their expertise to enter society.
