Startup Support Project Utilizing Idle Rural Facilities
On the 9th at 1 p.m., Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk held a completion ceremony at the Goryeong-gun Drone Center, which remodeled the former annex building of the closed Jikdong Elementary School in Jik-ri, Gaejin-myeon.
The completion ceremony was attended by about 40 people, including Lee Nam-cheol, the governor of Goryeong-gun, the county council chairman, provincial council members, the head of Donggoryeong Nonghyup, the Agricultural Organization Council, and local residents. The event included an introduction of the management team and explanation of the operation plan, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, commemorative photo session, and a reception.
The Drone Center was completed by remodeling the annex building of Jikdong Elementary School (building area: 172.8㎡) with a total project cost of 450 million KRW over three years starting in 2021. Since March this year, it has been conducting pesticide application training and pesticide business registration for cooperative members, as well as consulting to support the creation of an outdoor training ground to strengthen capabilities and activate operations.
In addition, Geumcheon Nuri Agricultural Cooperative signed an MOU with the professional education institution ‘D2’ to enhance the expertise and operational capacity of the Drone Center, establishing a cooperative system to smoothly support the drone business of the Goryeong-gun Drone Center.
D2 has been providing drone license education, e-sports, drone aerial photography, and drone aerial pesticide application. It is an educational institution that has been actively involved in various fields, including participating in local festivals for the community and signing an MOU with the Korean Red Cross to participate in disaster response activities.
The Goryeong-gun Drone Center plans to quickly respond to the changing rural and agricultural era by providing various drone services such as drone pesticide application, drone education, and drone maintenance, thereby creating jobs for local residents, revitalizing economic activities and income generation, and solving difficulties caused by aging and labor shortages.
Governor Lee Nam-cheol said, “The drone industry has limitless potential for use in various fields such as smart agriculture, aerial photography, transportation, and disaster response. I hope that the Drone Center, which is the starting point in our region, will become an opportunity for development not only in agriculture but also in various drone fields.” He added, “I hope that the continuous activities of the Goryeong-gun Drone Center will enhance the vitality of rural communities.”
