Daejeon City "Completion of Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute's First Relocation to Daejeon"

The Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute has completed its first phase of relocation to Daejeon.

On the 11th, Daejeon City announced that the Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute has relocated its first phase to Gayang-dong, Dong-gu (formerly Gayang Obstetrics and Gynecology).

The first phase of relocation involves a total of 60 people across six departments, including the Director, the Management Planning Headquarters, and the Industrial Growth Headquarters.

The Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute is a substitute public institution that moved to Daejeon when the Ministry of SMEs and Startups relocated to Sejong in 2021.

There are a total of four substitute public institutions. Prior to the relocation of the Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute, the Korea Meteorological Administration (Government Daejeon Office) and the Korea Intellectual Property Strategy Development Institute (Yuanta Securities Building, Seonhwa-dong, Jung-gu) relocated to Daejeon in 2022, and in June, the Korea Forestry Promotion Institute (Forestry Technology Commercialization Center, Yuseong-gu) also relocated to Daejeon.

As an institution under the Korea Meteorological Administration, from the 11th, the Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute will carry out meteorological and climate research and development (R&D) project discovery, foster the meteorological industry and talent development, meteorological standards and inspection/certification, meteorological enterprise startups, and promotion of meteorological information utilization in Daejeon.

Daejeon City expects that the relocation of the Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute to Daejeon will accelerate the establishment of a meteorological industry cluster in Daejeon in cooperation with the Korea Meteorological Administration.

Meanwhile, the Korea Meteorological Industry Technology Institute decided to forgo a separate opening ceremony and instead donate 10 million KRW of the event budget to the Gayang 1 and 2-dong Administrative Welfare Centers.
