From the 13th, 5.7 billion KRW in Small-scale Farm Direct Payments and 3.5 billion KRW in Area Direct Payments to be Distributed
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do will sequentially pay 9.2 billion KRW in 2023 Basic Public Interest Direct Payments (Small-scale Farmer Direct Payments, Area Direct Payments) starting from the 13th.
According to the county on the 11th, 5.7 billion KRW will be paid to 4,740 households as small-scale farmer direct payments of 1.2 million KRW per household, and 3.5 billion KRW will be paid to 2,336 households as area direct payments based on farmland area.
The public interest direct payment program is a system that provides subsidies to farmers who meet certain qualifications and comply with requirements to promote the public functions of agriculture and rural areas such as environmental conservation, rural maintenance, and food safety through agricultural activities, stabilize farmers' income, and shift agricultural policy centered on rice.
However, those who fail to comply with 17 requirements, including maintaining the shape and function of farmland and completing education, will receive a reduced amount by 5 to 20%.
The county received registrations and applications from households and plots registered in the agricultural management entity at the eup/myeon offices where the farmland is located from February to April, issued registration certificates in May, and finalized the payment recipients and amounts through on-site inspections, compliance checks, and mass verification in November.
County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “I am grateful for your full efforts in leading agriculture despite difficulties caused by abnormal weather such as drought, monsoon, heat waves, and poor crop yields,” and added, “I hope the public interest direct payments will help your management even a little.”
