Performance bonus grade raised by one level along with a reward of 1 million won
Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Shin Woo-cheol) held the ‘Active Administration Review Committee’ on the 6th and selected three outstanding public officials for active administration in the second half of 2023.
According to the county on the 11th, outstanding public officials for active administration refer to those who actively handle tasks based on creativity and expertise for the public interest. The county selects outstanding public officials every year in the first and second halves to promote the spread of active administration.
As a result of the final review, Kim Ji-mi, administrative officer of the Economic and Transportation Division; Kim Dong-hyun of the Forest Recreation Division; and Kim Jeong-cheol, administrative officer of the Population and Job Policy Office, were selected.
Kim Ji-mi, administrative officer of the Economic and Transportation Division, promoted the ‘Free County Bus Policy,’ the first in Jeollanam-do and the second nationwide, to alleviate transportation inconveniences for residents such as elderly people who do not drive and students.

The free operation of county buses had selectively supported loss compensation only for buses costing 100 won for those aged 65 and over and youth, but it was implemented by focusing on the fact that if an additional 300 million won was invested, anyone in the county could use it.
Kim Dong-hyun, administrative officer of the Forest Recreation Division, was highly evaluated for contributing to the revitalization of the local economy by successfully hosting the ‘Garden Festival,’ spreading garden culture, and attracting tourists.
In particular, although there were complaints from fishermen due to the extension of the use period of the port facilities, the festival venue, for six months in response to residents’ demand to extend the festival period, Officer Kim achieved a smooth agreement through active persuasion.
Kim Jeong-cheol, administrative officer of the Population and Job Policy Office, paid attention to statistics showing that the average potential demand for literacy education in the county was 29.77% of the population, higher than the national average, but education was abandoned due to transportation inconveniences characteristic of island areas.
Accordingly, through initiatives such as the ‘Visiting Literacy Classroom,’ the number of beneficiaries of literacy education doubled compared to last year, and he received high marks for contributing to the realization of educational equality through selection in various public contests and the creation of learning-type jobs.
Outstanding public officials for active administration are awarded a prize of 1 million won, along with benefits such as a one-grade increase in performance bonuses, additional points (0.3 points) in work performance evaluations, and three days of reward leave.
Kim Hyun-cheol, Vice Governor and Chairman of the Wando-gun Active Administration Review Committee, said, “We will continue to spread the culture of active administration by continuously selecting outstanding public officials for active administration,” and added, “We will make further efforts to promote active administration that residents can feel.”
A county official stated, “Anyone in the county can recommend active administration public officials through the bulletin board on the Wando-gun website,” and added, “Next year, we plan to promote various methods so that residents can participate in the recommendation and selection process of active administration public officials.”
