Naver Z and Sharjah Media City in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have joined hands to collaborate on metaverse-related content and technology.
On the 8th, Naver Z and UAE's Sharjah Media City signed a "Memorandum of Understanding for Promoting Metaverse and Technology Cooperation." A high-level delegation from Sharjah, including Deputy Ruler Al Qasimi and Sharjah Media City Chairman Al Midfa, visited the Pangyo Techwon building for the signing ceremony, where they experienced ▲Zepeto motion capture studio ▲generative AI applied in Zepeto, and discussed Naver Z's advanced technologies.
Through this MOU, the two parties plan to pursue comprehensive collaboration related to metaverse content and immersive technologies. First, they will discuss ways to promote Sharjah Media City on the global metaverse platform "Zepeto." Naver Z will share its know-how related to metaverse and immersive technologies and actively exchange trends in related content.
Additionally, they will work together on talent development through various exchange programs. Naver Z will design metaverse content production education programs for Sharjah Media City and seek support for related creators and startups. They also plan to continue cultural exchanges through various cultural events such as ▲joint virtual artist media production ▲metaverse film festivals.
Kang Hee-seok, Head of Business at Naver Z, said, "Zepeto has quickly established itself as Asia's representative metaverse platform with over 400 million cumulative global users," adding, "We will actively exchange Naver Z's rich content and technology know-how to support Sharjah's digital transformation and help it become a global metaverse creator hub."
Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Media City, stated, "Following the recent launch of Shams AI Lab, Sharjah Media City has now begun its metaverse journey with Naver Z through this MOU, enabling us to provide a platform for content creators in the UAE, the Middle East, and North Africa," and added, "We look forward to growing together with Naver Z."
