'Jungnang-gu Top 10 News' Online Voting for Jungnang-gu Residents and Staff from November 17 to 29... 11,485 Participants
The ‘Top 10 News of Jungnang-gu’ that illuminated Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Gyeong-gi) and elevated the pride of Jungnang residents throughout 2023 has been selected.
From ‘2.6 million participants in the Seoul Rose Festival representing May in Jungnang-gu,’ to ‘the first-ever budget exceeding 1 trillion won since the district’s establishment,’ and ‘Jungnang, a great place to raise children, opening the 6th Our Neighborhood Care Center and expanding communal childcare rooms, ranking first in Seoul,’ various policies and projects aimed at significantly improving residents’ quality of life made it into the Top 10 News.
The Top 10 News is an event where residents vote for the 5 most relatable projects out of 20 major policies and projects promoted by the district throughout the year, and a total of 10 items are selected based on the number of votes received.
To select the Top 10 News, the district conducted an online vote for 13 days from November 17 to 29. A total of 11,485 people, including Jungnang-gu residents and staff, participated in the voting.
As a result of the vote, ▲‘2023 Seoul Rose Festival with 2.6 million participants, Jungnang is sincere about roses’ took first place with 4,368 votes. The Seoul Rose Festival is Jungnang-gu’s representative festival held every May. This year, themed as a festival led by residents, it was held against the backdrop of Jungnangcheon adorned with 10 million blooming roses, attracting a total of 2.6 million tourists and generating approximately 14.6 billion won in direct economic effects, revitalizing the local economy.
Second place with 4,322 votes went to ▲‘Jungnang-gu budget surpasses 1 trillion won for the first time since establishment.’ This year, Jungnang-gu set a budget of 1.0162 trillion won, marking the first time since its establishment in 1988 that the budget exceeded 1 trillion won. The budget focused on stabilizing people’s livelihoods, revitalizing the local economy, building a safe city, promoting social welfare, and improving residential environments to enhance residents’ quality of life.
Next, ▲‘Jungnang, a great place to raise children’ ranked third with 4,070 votes. This year, the district expanded Our Neighborhood Care Centers to the 6th branch to minimize care gaps. Additionally, with 14 communal childcare rooms opened, Jungnang ranks first among Seoul’s autonomous districts. The third-place ranking reflects residents’ expectations for more comprehensive care and childcare policies.
Other rankings include ▲4th ‘100 billion won allocated and supported for education expense subsidies, 2nd in Seoul’ ▲5th ‘New bus routes resolving public transportation inconvenience areas’ ▲6th ‘Full-scale promotion of SH relocation project final agreement’ ▲7th ‘Selected for low-rise residential housing development project contest, 21 sites, 1st in Seoul’ ▲8th ‘Yongma Waterfall Park and Bonghwa Mountain create a loess trail, walking on a loess path in an urban park’ ▲9th ‘Eco Mileage project selected as the best district for 8 consecutive years, Jungnang residents are masters of energy saving’ ▲10th ‘Achieved the highest (SA) rating for 3 consecutive years in the pledge implementation plan evaluation’ as the Top 10 News of Jungnang-gu in 2023.
