"Leading Figure in the Globalization of Korean Content"
Lee Mi-kyung, Vice Chairman of CJ ENM, has been named for the third consecutive year on the "2023 Entertainment Women Power 100" list selected by the American popular culture media outlet The Hollywood Reporter. This is the first time such a case has occurred in Asia.
The Hollywood Reporter annually evaluates achievements and leadership in the global entertainment industry to select the 100 most influential women.
Regarding the reason for selecting Vice Chairman Lee, The Hollywood Reporter stated, "Vice Chairman Lee has been a key figure in the globalization of Korean film and content industries, having received the American Academy Film Museum Pillar Award and the International Emmy Founders Award."
The outlet also highlighted the film Fast Lives, for which Vice Chairman Lee served as executive producer. Directed by Korean-Canadian filmmaker Celine Song, the film tells the story of a man and woman who were separated in childhood and reunited in New York, USA, after more than 20 years. It is scheduled to be released domestically in the first half of next year.
Regarding this work, The Hollywood Reporter evaluated it as "a significant achievement of the powerful Korean entertainment company CJ ENM, led by Vice Chairman Lee, entering local film production across the Pacific."
In an interview with the media outlet, Vice Chairman Lee said, "The year 2024 will be filled with diverse stories that Hollywood can share with audiences worldwide."
On the 13th, Vice Chairman Lee will receive the Gold Crown Cultural Medal at the "2023 Korea Content Awards Ceremony" in recognition of her contributions to the growth of the Korean entertainment industry.
