Vice Minister Jang stated, "Raw material urea is secured for 4.3 months' supply through domestic stock and contracted quantities outside China, and the previously contracted 5,000 tons of Vietnamese urea is scheduled to arrive within next week as planned," adding, "We ask the public to rest assured and purchase only the necessary amounts."

Earlier, the government explained at the 11th Economic Security Core Items Task Force (TF) meeting held on the 6th that they had secured 3.7 months' supply of automotive urea, but the secured quantity has now increased to 4.3 months' supply.

According to the industry, a domestic company recently signed a new contract to import 5,000 tons of industrial urea from Vietnam. A government official explained that if companies wish, it is possible to import urea from third countries at prices 10 to 20% higher than Chinese products.

The government urged the public not to hoard, stating that automotive urea solution is being sold normally at most gas stations nationwide and that the secured stock and quantities are sufficient.
