SKT Included in 2023 DJSI World Index... Strengthening ESG Management

SK Telecom announced on the 10th that it has been included in the 2023 Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World Index.

Since first being included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World Index (DJSI World Index) in 2008, SKT has been included for a total of 15 years, except for 2020.

DJSI is a sustainability evaluation index published annually by the world's largest financial information provider, S&P Global. It is widely used as a standard to assess the sustainability management level of global companies and to assist investors in making responsible investment decisions.

This year, 320 companies, representing the top 12.6% of 2,544 evaluated companies worldwide, were included in the DJSI World Index, with only 22 domestic companies included. Among global telecommunications companies, only 7 were included in the World Index, and SKT is the only domestic telecommunications company included.

The company explained that SKT's inclusion in this index reflects various efforts such as ▲strengthening ESG management system centered on the board of directors ▲implementation of double materiality assessment (an evaluation method that analyzes both the financial impact of external environmental and social factors on the company and the company's impact on the environment and society) ▲advancement of biodiversity policies ▲expansion of human rights due diligence ▲establishment of a quality management system for distribution networks.

This year’s DJSI evaluation results will be reflected in the S&P DJSI fund and related ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) index funds at the opening of the U.S. stock market on December 18.

Park Yong-joo, SK Telecom’s ESG officer, stated, “As we have been included in the DJSI World Index for a long time, we plan to continuously develop ESG management to meet internal and external evaluations and expectations,” adding, “As an AI company, we will lead the way in spreading positive influence on society and the environment based on our technological capabilities and creating sustainable growth together with our customers.”
