Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 10th that the sales of the agricultural specialty product shopping mall ‘Saiseo’ surpassed 40 billion KRW for the first time since its establishment in 2007.
Saiseo has 133,474 members and 2,200 registered vendors. As of the end of November, sales reached 42.1 billion KRW, a 31% increase compared to 32.2 billion KRW during the same period last year. Sales for the entire previous year were 38.2 billion KRW, showing a 10% increase. The number of members also grew by 60% compared to 83,193 members in the same period last year.
Looking at the number of members by region, Gyeongbuk members accounted for 34% (44,764 members), while members from outside Gyeongbuk made up 66% (88,710 members), confirming that Saiseo is a nationwide shopping mall. The regional membership breakdown of the total 133,474 members is as follows: Gyeongbuk 44,764, Gyeonggi 23,820, Seoul 18,965, Daegu 13,910, and others 32,015.
This achievement is understood to be largely due to the integration of shopping malls, which were previously operated at the city and county level, into a provincial-level wide-area platform over three years, completed this year, to revitalize online distribution through improved consumer accessibility, product diversification, and integrated marketing since 2021.
By integrating shopping mall member management, product registration, payment, and settlement, systematic customer response and system management have become possible. Additionally, consumers can purchase various products from different cities and counties and participate in events without separate registration procedures, using a single ID for Saiseo as well as city and county shopping malls, which has received great response.
Saiseo also conducts regular events unique to the platform (Monday special deals, Wednesday special deals), holiday gift exhibitions, year-end sales, seafood exhibitions, and other seasonal and themed consumer-tailored marketing. Various collaborative projects are continuously expanding, including the Small Business Subscription Economy Support Project led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Gyeongdo Health Policy’s childbirth congratulatory coupon support project.
Kim Ju-ryeong, Director of the Agriculture, Livestock, and Distribution Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “The public shopping mall ‘Saiseo’ has gained momentum to grow further through the establishment of a provincial-level wide-area platform,” adding, “We will continue to improve the system and expand customer-tailored events and collaborations with other organizations to enhance consumer convenience and accessibility, striving to make the shopping mall satisfying for both producers and consumers.”
