Seodaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will host a meeting with residents by inviting Dr. Kang Yongsoo, author of "Schopenhauer Read at Forty," at 2 p.m. on the 14th at the Bukahyeon Cultural and Sports Center Art Hall.
"Schopenhauer Read at Forty," an unusual philosophy popular book, has attracted attention by ranking first in overall bestseller lists at various online and offline bookstores since mid-last month.
The author, who earned his doctorate from the University of W?rzburg in Germany, will introduce the life and philosophy of the German philosopher Schopenhauer during the lecture.
He will also examine various social issues such as the increasing suicide rate, declining birth rate, wealth gap, and decreasing marriage rate, and seek solutions together with the audience.
Before the lecture, a performance by the "Lee Hangyeol Trio," consisting of harmonica (Lee Hangyeol), piano (Song Gukhwa), and percussion (Park Jinhwi) players, will offer warmth to the audience as they approach the year-end.
Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, "I hope this event will be a time for the author and residents to communicate and add hope to individuals and our future society."
