On the 8th, Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced that it held the opening ceremony of the Jeongsim Village Management Social Cooperative (Chairperson Yoo Ok-kyung) at the Ssanghwacha Community Lounge and will begin full-scale operations.
The opening ceremony was attended by about 100 people, including Mayor Lee Hak-su, National Assembly member Yoon Joon-byung, officials from Jeongsim Social Cooperative, and local residents.

Jeongsim Social Cooperative is a resident-centered cooperative engaged in public interest activities for the development of Saemgoeul Market and the surrounding street shops. It will operate and manage urban regeneration facilities in the central city area, such as experience management facilities, rest culture facilities, and parking lots.
The facilities operated and managed by Jeongsim Social Cooperative include the Saemgoeul Rice Cake Harmony Platform, Ssanghwacha Community Lounge, Alcohol Culture Center, Fabric Art Gallery, and Maple Guesthouse.
The city signed a consignment contract with Jeongsim Social Cooperative last October to promote the growth and development of the old downtown area by encouraging voluntary participation and communication among residents and cooperation with surrounding shops in managing urban regeneration facilities.
Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “Urban regeneration hub facilities require community participation and communication for sustainable development,” adding, “I hope the cooperative will cooperate with surrounding shops and become a cooperative that works not only with its members but also with local residents to restore the old downtown area and revitalize the region.”
