[Special Stock] OpenEdge, One of Only Two Companies Worldwide Providing HBM3 IP... AI Semiconductor Technology War Intensifies

As the importance of semiconductors essential for artificial intelligence (AI) technology development grows, Open Edge Technology is gaining attention. It operates in the core IP industry amid the structural growth of the AI semiconductor market, and expectations that it will benefit from the expanding data processing demands driven by advancements in AI accelerator technology seem to have influenced this. Open Edge Technology is the only company in the world that can simultaneously supply NPU IP, the core of AI semiconductors, and memory system IP, which serves as the 'backbone' of all semiconductors.

At 1:46 PM on the 8th, Open Edge Technology was trading at 21,250 KRW, up 10.97% from the previous day.

AMD officially launched the 'Instinct MI300' series, an AI semiconductor, on the 6th (local time). As a rival to Nvidia, which dominates the AI semiconductor market, AMD plans to compete by significantly enhancing GPU processing speed and capabilities.

Lisa Su, CEO of AMD, forecasted that the AI semiconductor industry could grow to over $400 billion by 2027. Until August, the estimate was $150 billion, but it was adjusted to more than double that in just four months. AMD expects accelerator sales to exceed $2 billion in 2024.

Minjeong Kwak, a researcher at Hyundai Motor Securities, explained, "Currently, besides Synopsys, Open Edge Technology is the only company that can provide global HBM3 IP," adding, "The market is divided between the global second-ranked companies." She continued, "In the past, Rambus provided PHY IP up to HBM2," and "By selling the PHY IP division to Cadence last September, Open Edge Technology's competitiveness has improved."

Researcher Kwak introduced, "Unlike major IP companies Synopsys and Cadence, which only provide PHY IP for LPDDR5X/5 on TSMC processes, Open Edge Technology's PHY IP for LPDDR5X can be applied not only on TSMC N7 but also on N6." He added, "They are currently developing PHY IP for N5 DDR5," and "It is expected that they will join the TSMC IP Alliance next year."
