A public official from Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, is gaining attention as the first in the nation to directly produce a webtoon.


Since the 6th, the webtoon , directly created as part of the ‘Public Official Webtoon Relay Project,’ has been posted. This webtoon will be published on the official Changwon City blog every Wednesday and Thursday for three weeks until the 21st.

This project was implemented to gather public officials interested in the webtoon industry regardless of rank, job series, or department, allowing them to experience the content industry firsthand and establish policy directions that practically benefit local content industry workers.


The webtoon production project, operated solely through employees’ talent donations, consisted of two writers and nine illustrators, producing a total of six episodes.


, featuring Changwon’s representative character ‘Piumi’ as the protagonist, contains stories the city wants to share with its youth and reflects Changwon’s culture and arts. It began serialization receiving enthusiastic support and applause from employees.


Additionally, a meeting was held inviting Shin Ji-hoon and Ji Seong-ung, graduates of the Gyeongnam Webtoon Campus who serialize on KakaoPage, and Jo Se-hee, CEO of Saeppeum Books.


At this meeting, in-depth discussions about the local webtoon industry took place through lectures and advice from currently active famous authors. The public official webtoon relay writers plan to continue producing their next works with passionate effort and enthusiasm, focusing on more interesting themes and content to contribute to the development of Changwon’s content industry.


Kim Eun-ja, Director of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Bureau, said, “The adventure of public officials who directly challenged themselves to understand the needs of content creators is admirable. I believe these efforts will collectively lead to Changwon’s development. We will continue to think and strive actively to provide practical support to local content creators.”
