Yoon Won-seok, Executive Director and Head of the White Hat Center at RaonSecure, a leading IT integrated security and authentication company (CEO Lee Soon-hyung), received the “2023 Minister of Science and ICT Commendation for Contributions to the Development of the Information Security Industry” at the ‘2023 Information Security Industry Night’ event held on the 6th in Yeouido, Seoul.
The ‘Information Security Industry Night’ is an event hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (hereinafter ‘MSIT’) and organized by the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA). It is held annually to build social consensus on the importance of information security, honor the efforts of industry workers, and boost their pride. The main event is an awards ceremony recognizing contributors to the information security industry.
Yoon Won-seok, Executive Director of RaonSecure, was recognized for his contributions to the development of the domestic information security industry by leading the White Hat Center to cultivate world-class white hackers and providing premium penetration testing and information security consulting based on white hacker expertise to major public institutions and leading companies. For this, he was awarded the MSIT Minister’s Commendation.
RaonSecure’s White Hat Center boasts world-class white hacker researchers who have dominated top international hacking defense competitions such as the US ‘DEFCON CTF’, Japan’s ‘SECCON CTF’, and China’s ‘Real World CTF’. Based on this, they provide security consulting services including ▲premium penetration testing ▲solution and service verification ▲information security certification support consulting ▲vulnerability analysis and evaluation. Since 2020, RaonSecure has been designated as a nationally recognized information security professional service company, making it the only domestic company officially recognized as a specialized penetration testing and information security professional service provider.
In particular, RaonSecure’s premium penetration testing service is the only premium service offered by a publicly listed company in Korea. Unlike general penetration testing services that check for known web vulnerabilities, it assesses the possibility of hacking through penetration testing from an actual hacker’s perspective during system operation and provides optimal preventive measures.
RaonSecure is also leading efforts to nurture talent in the information security industry. The hands-on hacking and security education service ‘Raon CTF’, launched in 2018, has the unique advantage of cultivating customized security professionals who can be immediately deployed in the field. It is used as a textbook for security major courses at numerous universities such as Seoul Women’s University, Chungbuk National University, and Howon University. Every year, more than 500 students grow into information security industry talents through Raon CTF lectures.
Yoon Won-seok, Executive Director of RaonSecure, said, “It is an honor and a pleasure to receive the Minister’s Commendation on behalf of RaonSecure employees who have worked for over 10 years at the forefront of Korea’s information security industry, driving technological innovation and differentiated service development.” He added, “We will continue to contribute to the development of the information security industry through cultivating white hackers and advancing white hat services.”
