Yoon Young-chan: "Did Not Send Debate Invitation to Lee Nak-yeon... No Prior Coordination"

The non-Myeong (非明) reform faction 'Principles and Common Sense' is set to hold a debate on the 10th, ahead of a 'major announcement.' It has been reported that the pro-Lee Nak-yeon group 'Democracy Practice Action' will also attend this debate, raising the possibility of an alliance with the former leader. However, Yoon Young-chan, a member of the Democratic Party and part of 'Principles and Common Sense,' stated that no invitation was sent to the former leader.

On the 8th, during SBS's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show,' when asked by the host whether an invitation had been sent to the former leader, Yoon said, "It is not true that an invitation was sent to the former leader," drawing a clear line.

The non-Myeong reform faction group 'Principles and Common Sense,' to which Yoon belongs, plans to hold a debate at the National Assembly on the 10th. The meeting will also include 'Democracy Practice Action,' a group of figures affiliated with Lee Nak-yeon outside the party, drawing attention to the connection with the former leader.

However, Yoon stated, "'Principles and Common Sense' does not share any sympathy or prior consultation with the former leader," adding, "The concerns we are currently facing are probably similar, but each is contemplating them in their own place. We empathize with the former leader's concerns, and he also empathizes with ours."

He continued, "Not only the former Prime Minister but also former Prime Ministers Kim Boo-kyum and Chung Sye-kyun would be welcome to attend, but this event is about communication with the public," adding, "Since it is not a formal setting, we do not know what will be discussed there, so internally, we have not yet decided whether it is appropriate to invite these three."

Regarding the possibility of the former leader founding a new party, Yoon said, "I do not think that matter has reached a substantial level," adding, "In any case, he is clearly discussing the path the Democratic Party should take and is contemplating ways to resolve the extreme confrontations in Korean politics beyond the Democratic Party."
