53rd Anniversary of Korea Importers Association Founded... "Expanding Global Supply Chain Next Year"

Commemoration Ceremony Held on the 7th
300 Attendees Including Ambassadors from 80 Countries in Korea

The Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) announced that it held a commemorative ceremony for its 53rd anniversary and the 14th Import Day on the afternoon of the 7th at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul.

The event was attended by more than 300 people, including ambassadors and commercial attach?s from 80 countries such as India and T?rkiye, heads of economic organizations, representatives of the import industry, and related government ministries including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.


Despite the global supply chain crisis, government awards were presented to import contributors who have stably supplied raw materials and parts, contributing to the development of domestic industries. The Industrial Award was given to Hong Kwang-hee, CEO of New Korea Promotion; the Presidential Citation was awarded to Kim Young-soo, CEO of Reco, and Yong Hwan-joo, CEO of Namdeok Trading; the Prime Minister’s Citation went to Kim Jung-soon, CEO of Afro Industry, and Lee Jong-hwan, CEO of Eco Euro Power; and the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Citation was awarded to Kim Seok-oh, Chairman of the Small and Medium Business International Customs and Trade Advisory Center.


KOIMA also presented the KOIMA Awards to ambassadors from five countries and related organizations that actively cooperated in various projects.


In his welcoming remarks, Kim Byung-kwan, Chairman of KOIMA, said, “I sincerely thank all members of the import industry who have contributed to the development of domestic industries by discovering excellent raw materials and products worldwide despite difficult external conditions. Next year, we will actively dispatch import delegations to countries around the world to expand the global supply chain, and domestically, we will make every effort to perfectly prepare for the Korea Import Fair to be held at COEX in July next year, so that it can become a venue for global business matching opportunities between participating overseas companies and domestic companies seeking new products.”


Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin congratulated KOIMA on its 53rd anniversary through a congratulatory message, saying, “I congratulate the Korea Importers Association for discovering import sources for various items from overseas raw materials to finished products and supplying them to the domestic market, thereby contributing to securing the competitiveness of domestic industries. We look forward to the continued role of the Importers Association in ensuring stable supply of raw materials and parts.”


Damir Kusin, Ambassador of Croatia to Korea, expressed gratitude to KOIMA for acting as a bridge to make the two countries practical business partners, emphasizing, “I hope KOIMA will continue to strengthen partnerships so that many countries, including Croatia, can introduce their excellent products through the Korea Importers Association.”
