The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency will implement a special comprehensive crime prevention plan for the year-end and New Year period from the 11th of this month to January 2nd of next year.
On the 7th, the provincial police agency announced that it will carry out special crime prevention activities so that residents can safely and comfortably conclude the year and welcome the new year.
▲ Strengthening patrols in densely populated areas and regions prone to crime ▲ Special criminal investigations for public safety ▲ Youth protection activities during winter vacation ▲ Intensive crackdown on drunk driving ▲ Safety management support for bell-ringing ceremonies and sunrise events ▲ Crime prevention and protection activities for foreigners ▲ Thorough management of 112 emergency calls.
They plan to conduct crime prevention inspections on places such as gold and silver shops, unmanned stores, and convenience stores to identify vulnerable points and recommend facility improvements as part of preventive measures.
Using a crime data analysis system, areas with frequent 112 calls or high crime rates will be selected for concentrated police deployment.
To suppress the crime atmosphere in advance, joint patrols will be conducted focusing on houses, alleys, and parks in cooperation with volunteer crime prevention groups.
Crimes involving weapons that can lead to life-threatening damage will be investigated under the principle of detention, and intelligence gathering related to drug use will be strengthened for active investigation.
Three times a week, visible and promotional intensive drunk driving crackdowns will be conducted around entertainment districts and highway entrances and exits.
Habitual offenders will be severely punished, including vehicle confiscation.
In areas with a large foreign population such as Gimhae and Geoje, joint patrols with foreigner volunteer crime prevention groups will be conducted to foster a law-abiding atmosphere.
Chief Kim Byung-woo said, “We will focus the capabilities of the Gyeongnam police to implement the special comprehensive crime prevention plan so that residents can calmly and peacefully conclude the year.”
