Delta Air Lines announced on the 7th that it will increase flights on the Incheon-Atlanta route as investments by Korean companies in the U.S. rise. Jeff Mumaw, Vice President of Asia-Pacific, said this during a media briefing held at the Delta Air Lines Christmas pop-up store. He stated, “Over the past few years, Korean companies have invested more than $100 billion in the U.S.,” and added, “The Incheon-Atlanta route, which currently operates twice daily, will be increased to three times daily starting May next year.” The additional flights will be operated by Delta Air Lines.

Currently, Korean Air and Delta Air Lines each operate one flight daily on this route. A Delta Air Lines official said, “This route has a very high load factor, and even our employees often cannot get seats when traveling on business, so they frequently have to transit through Detroit.” Delta Air Lines’ headquarters is located in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

They also announced plans to introduce a service that allows passengers transferring in Atlanta from flights originating in Korea to avoid rechecking their baggage. Currently, all travelers transiting through the U.S. must retrieve their checked baggage and undergo baggage inspection. Vice President Mumaw said, “Introducing this program can reduce transfer time by 15 minutes,” and added, “Since this will be the first case of passengers entering the U.S. transferring without baggage reinspection, we are very excited about it.”

Additionally, Delta Air Lines plans to introduce several new services next year, including a renewal of in-flight meals on the Incheon-Americas routes (offering jeon, dakgangjeong, mandu, and neobiani), free high-speed Wi-Fi (limited to SkyMiles members), and the launch of Delta Sync (a personalized video service for passengers).

Regarding the case where actress Hyeri, formerly of Girl’s Day, booked a first-class seat on Delta Air Lines but was downgraded to economy, Delta reiterated that this occurred during an aircraft change process. Vice President Mumaw apologized, saying, “We are sorry for the experience Hyeri had. The aircraft was changed from a larger plane to a smaller one, and in such cases, two options are offered: either take another flight with the same seat or receive compensation for the difference and take the same flight.” He added, “Hyeri chose to take the same flight, but this situation was not something we wanted to happen, and we will do our best to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
