On the 6th, Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do held the final report meeting for the "Gwangyang Urban Wind Path Forest Creation" project, attended by about 20 people including Jeong In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, officials from Jeollanam-do, the chairman of the Urban Forest Cultivation Committee, and experts.

The report meeting fully reflected the opinions mentioned in the previous two meetings, including ▲positive results derived from thermal environment simulations before and after for three representative project sites in 2023, expecting improvements in the thermal environment ▲expansion of a healthy tree growth base ▲additional selection of pedestrian-only road project sites around schools and residential areas ▲and incorporation of Gwangyang's native tree species.

Jeong In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang, urged, "Please thoroughly inspect the areas completed in 2023 with experts to check if there are any additional improvements needed, and ensure that projects from 2024 onwards are carried out more perfectly."

He added, "I hope that by concentrating all administrative efforts until the completion of the Urban Wind Path Forest in 2025, it will lay the foundation for realizing the 8th term administration’s strategy, 'Sustainable Human City through Expansion of Green Infrastructure.'"

Gwangyang City completed five out of seven sites, including Wau Neighborhood Park, with a total project cost of 9 billion KRW in 2023 for the Urban Wind Path Forest creation project, and plans to complete the remaining two sites in the following spring to prevent damage from the East Sea.

In 2024, with a total project cost of 5 billion KRW including 2.5 billion KRW in national funds, the city plans to swiftly proceed with five sites such as Jungma Jungang-ro and Hangman-daero, completing administrative procedures in January and finishing planting in the optimal spring season.
