Seafood Restaurant Owner Scoring 40 Points Appears: "10 People Ordered One Plate"

"Asked for a menu that didn't exist and was given it... False claim"
Whistleblower further rebuts CEO's explanation with additional statement

Controversy arose after a review claimed that a plate of sashimi with about 40 pieces of flatfish and yellowtail cost 100,000 won, prompting the owner of the sashimi restaurant to clarify that "the customer's claim is false."

According to JTBC's 'Incident Room' on the 4th, the restaurant owner, Mr. A, said, "Our restaurant sells sashimi at 40,000 won, 50,000 won, and 70,000 won per person. However, the customers said, 'We ate a lot at the first round, so we can't eat much and will only eat a little,' so we agreed and gave them 100,000 won worth of sashimi."

He also expressed dissatisfaction toward Mr. B and his group, who raised the issue, saying, "There were nine men and one woman in their 20s who came and only ordered one 45,000 won cod soup and 100,000 won worth of yellowtail sashimi."

Mr. A said, "Although they did not order per person, we gave them 100,000 won worth of sashimi, which is not on the menu, because they insisted so much," showing his frustration. He added that the per-person menu includes side dishes (called tsukidashi), but Mr. B's group said, "We don't need other side dishes."

He rebutted, "The customers said, 'Why is the amount of sashimi so small? Please refund us.' The post mentioned a fight broke out at another table, but that's not true. That day, the only table that received sashimi without side dishes was that table of 10," he said.

He continued, "Those customers actually swore and caused a commotion. So I told them I wouldn't charge them and just leave. I thought about reporting them but decided not to because 'what's the point of reporting young people,' so I let them go. What did I do wrong?" he lamented.

Earlier, on the 2nd, an online community post titled "100,000 won for sashimi, is this right? Customer got cursed at for complaining" was uploaded.

The author, Mr. B, posted a photo showing a plate with about 40 pieces of flatfish and yellowtail sashimi and asked netizens, "We went to a sashimi restaurant in Sinyongsan for the second round yesterday. Is this really 100,000 won?"

He added, "The side dishes were just seaweed, white kimchi, and ssamjang (wrap sauce). When I first ordered and asked the owner, 'Is this really 100,000 won?' he said 'Yes,' so we just ate it. Other customers at another table who ordered the same thing complained, saying 'Isn't the price too much?'"

Mr. B claimed, "The owner pointed at our table and said, 'That table is just eating too. Those young bastards have no manners. Just leave. I'll refund you, so go,' and cursed at us. I was shocked by the amount of sashimi and even more shocked by that response, so I wrote this post."

The post sparked controversy online, and when the owner, Mr. A, expressed his grievance saying "this is not true," Mr. B wrote an additional post on the 6th, saying, "This has become bigger than I thought. Many people commented that this is 'fabrication' (making up false facts), so I am posting again."

Mr. B said, "Four of us had eaten the first round nearby, so when we asked for a light menu, the owner said we had to eat the 100,000 won flatfish + yellowtail sashimi. We were surprised by the amount of sashimi served and expected more side dishes, but none came."

He added, "Some comments said that blogs show various side dishes but the photo I posted does not have them. That's because those are set menus, and we ordered the 100,000 won ? la carte. I am rebutting the comment that said 'You only posted photos of the ? la carte course.'"

Through the additional post, he also said, "The owner was the one who initially suggested the 100,000 won menu. We quietly talked and ate, but a male customer at another table went to the counter (where sashimi is cut) and raised his voice, causing the same situation as described in the first post."
