Domestic virtual asset exchange Coinone announced on the 7th that it received the grand prize, the 'Minister of Science and ICT Award,' at the '22nd Information Security Awards' ceremony. Coinone is the first virtual asset business operator to win an award at the Information Security Awards.
The Information Security Awards, held on the 6th, is the most prestigious ceremony in the domestic information security field, hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA). Every year, it selects and awards exemplary companies in information security to raise awareness and encourage voluntary practice.
Coinone's grand prize win was largely due to its systematic incident prevention system. It received high scores in various areas including ▲organization and budgeting for information security ▲operation of information security systems ▲ensuring the safety of virtual assets and services supporting transactions ▲physical security ▲and employee security awareness to prepare for various security issues that may occur at virtual asset exchanges. The fact that no security incidents have occurred since its establishment in 2014 also contributed to the positive evaluation.
Meanwhile, prior to the award ceremony, a session was held where award-winning companies presented exemplary cases of information security practices. Coinone's security strategy manager introduced the thorough 'security review' process conducted before supporting virtual asset transactions and the 'Life Security 777 Campaign,' which has established security awareness among employees as part of the company culture, sharing the know-how behind their award.
Cha Myung-hoon, CEO of Coinone, said, "Through this grand prize award, Coinone has been recognized for possessing the highest level of information security capabilities in Korea beyond the virtual asset industry." He added, "Next year, we are also approaching the achievement of 10 consecutive years without security incidents since Coinone's establishment. As the first company in the industry to receive the Information Security Award, we will continue to set the information security standards for the virtual asset market."
