Ministry of the Interior and Safety Conducts Evaluation on 106 Local Governments Across 4 Areas and 9 Indicators

Saves 800 Million Won Budget, Enhances Organizational Efficiency…Aims to Provide Excellent Administrative Services
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it has been selected as an outstanding local government in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's '2023 Local Public Institution Innovation Structural Reform' and will receive a special grant of 250 million KRW.
The Local Public Institution Innovation Structural Reform is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety as part of national policy tasks. It consists of adjusting overlapping and similar functions through institution consolidation and cooperation, as well as reorganizing private competition projects such as private consignment. It was established to accelerate innovation in local public institutions and provide high-quality administrative services.
Accordingly, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety formed an evaluation team to assess 106 local governments (17 metropolitan, 89 basic) out of 243 nationwide that are implementing structural reforms. The evaluation was conducted based on four areas and nine evaluation indicators: ▲participation in national policies ▲appropriateness of plan establishment ▲implementation level ▲expected effects and performance dissemination.
As a result, the Ministry selected a total of 20 outstanding local governments (8 metropolitan, 12 basic) with high performance and provided a total of 10 billion KRW in special grants.
The district was recognized for its achievements in fully implementing the Local Public Institution Innovation Structural Reform and was selected as a basic local government in the encouragement category, receiving a special grant of 250 million KRW.
The district formed and operated a 'Public Institution Function Reorganization TF' to promote substantial and swift structural reforms.
In particular, it received high praise for analyzing the establishment purpose, functions, and management efficiency of public institutions, reorganizing unit organizations responsible for similar functions within departments, and boldly abolishing projects that were unnecessary to perform directly beyond their original purposes.
Through systematic personnel reallocation, the district demonstrated outstanding results by saving approximately 800 million KRW in budget and enhancing organizational operational efficiency.
