13 out of 14 Mokdong Apartment Complexes on Track for Reconstruction Project

Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that the Mokdong 9 Complex Apartment has passed the final detailed safety inspection with a 'reconstruction' judgment for the reconstruction maintenance project.

Completed in 1987 and now in its 36th year, the Mokdong 9 Complex Apartment spans a total floor area of 250,049.65㎡, with up to 15 floors, 32 buildings, and 2,030 households. In 2020, a reconstruction safety inspection was conducted, resulting in a 'conditional reconstruction (Grade D)' judgment, and after an external public institution's appropriateness review, it was finally decided as 'maintenance (Grade C)'.

However, since the revised reconstruction safety inspection standards were implemented on January 5 of this year, the evaluation criteria have been relaxed, and reconstruction was finally confirmed without an appropriateness review in this detailed safety inspection after about three years.

A district official stated, "With the passing of the reconstruction safety inspection for Mokdong 9 Complex, along with the 12 Mokdong apartment complexes previously confirmed for reconstruction, the momentum for promoting maintenance projects is expected to increase."

Meanwhile, the Mokdong apartment reconstruction project began with Complex 6 in 2020, followed by six complexes (Mokdong 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 14) passing safety inspections in January this year, and five complexes (1, 2, 4, 8, and 13) passing in February. Complex 11 is also currently re-pursuing the safety inspection service.

Among the 13 complexes that passed the safety inspection, Mokdong 6 Complex has completed rapid integrated planning and is accelerating the designation of maintenance zones. Additionally, Mokdong 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, and 14 Complexes are establishing maintenance plans through a rapid integrated planning advisory method (fast track), and it is expected that a significant number of complexes will complete maintenance zone designation by next year.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, "We will do our best to support the prompt progress of the reconstruction project, which is a long-standing wish of the residents of Mokdong Apartments."
