Lee Somi 'Tied for 2nd Place'... Korean-Australian Robin Choi 'Top Passer'

LPGA Q Series Final 6R 1 Over Par Stumble
Saigo Tied 2nd, Harigae 4th, Mack 5th
Seong Yujin and Jang Hyojun Tied 7th, Im Jinhee 17th

Lee So-mi, who has won a total of 5 times on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, finished tied for 2nd place in the LPGA Tour qualifying tournament.

On the 6th (local time), Lee So-mi finished the final 6th round of the LPGA Tour Qualifying (Q) Series at Magnolia Grove Crossing Course (par 72) in Mobile, Alabama, USA, with a score of one over par. She tied for 2nd place (26 under par, 404 strokes) alongside Mao Saigo (Japan). The tournament was played over 108 holes of stroke play. The top 20 players earned LPGA Tour cards for next year. Those ranked 21st to 45th received conditional status on the regular tour and eligibility to play on the Epson (2nd tier) Tour.

Lee So-mi started with a 2-stroke lead but recorded one birdie and two bogeys. She recovered a bogey on the 2nd hole (par 3) with a birdie on the 4th hole (par 5) and maintained par for the next 10 holes. However, a bogey on the 15th hole (par 4) pushed her out of the running for the championship. Her chance to be the top Korean qualifier for the third consecutive year, following Anna Lin in 2021 and Yoo Hae-ran last year, slipped away.

Robin Choi, a Korean-Australian whose parents are Korean, secured the top qualifying spot with a 4-under-par round, finishing at 29 under par (401 strokes). Choi debuted on the LPGA Tour in 2019 and has experience competing in 12 tournaments. Mina Harigae (USA) finished 4th (21 under par, 409 strokes), and Polly Mack (Germany) tied for 5th (20 under par, 410 strokes). Korean-American players No Ye-rim and Jennifer Song secured full LPGA Tour cards by finishing tied for 17th (13 under par, 417 strokes).

Korea’s ‘Match Queen’ Sung Yu-jin and rookie Jang Hyo-jun both shot 2 under par to finish tied for 7th (19 under par, 411 strokes), performing well. This year’s KLPGA Tour multiple winner Lim Jin-hee exchanged one birdie for one bogey and did not improve her score, finishing tied for 17th. Lee Jeong-eun 5 finished tied for 23rd (12 under par, 418 strokes), Hong Jeong-min tied for 45th (8 under par, 422 strokes), Yoon Min-ah tied for 56th (6 under par, 424 strokes), and Kang Hye-ji ended the tournament tied for 62nd (5 under par, 425 strokes).
