Jeon Seung-il, a member of the Seo-gu Council in Gwangju Metropolitan City, criticized during the administrative audit under the Social and Urban Committee at the 317th 2nd regular session, stating, "Approximately 70 million won of public funds were wasted on reinforcement work for newly constructed buildings."
The buildings where the reinforcement work was carried out are the Seo-gu Youth Dream Nuri Center (1287-1 Ssangchon-dong, Seo-gu) and Seobitmaru (30 Pungam Park-ro, Seo-gu), both of which opened in June this year.
Despite both being newly constructed buildings, the reinforcement work was conducted through private contracts.
Councilman Jeon pointed out, "Although both buildings are new and less than six months old, reinforcement work costing approximately 53 million won and 19 million won respectively was carried out through private contracts," adding, "If it were your own building or home, would you spend such a large amount of money on construction so easily?"
