Kim Do-gyun, Director of Jindo Jeonnam Hospital, Receives 'Medical Volunteer Practice Award'

Pediatric Care and Local Medical Development, Practicing Warm Medical Sharing for Vulnerable Groups

Kim Do-gyun, Chairman of Jindo Jeonnam Hospital (Namwoo Medical Foundation), recently received the 2023 Seoul Peace Culture Award for ‘Medical Volunteer Practice Award’ selected by the Seoul Peace Culture Awards Committee.

Chairman Kim Do-gyun has contributed to the local community through numerous volunteer activities to lead by example in the hospital’s philosophy of love and service.

In particular, in collaboration with Jindo County, the hospital was selected in 2022 for the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s medical vulnerable area support project, and began pediatric and adolescent care this year, receiving favorable reviews from residents in the southwestern region of Jeonnam.

With a pediatric specialist residing in the area, Jindo County residents no longer have to travel to places like Mokpo City for treatment, eliminating previous inconveniences.

Additionally, Chairman Kim Do-gyun, who operates Jindo Jeonnam Hospital, a funeral hall, and a nursing hospital specializing in elderly care in Jindo County under the Namwoo Medical Foundation, was honored for his contributions to the nation and local development, including △ operating a kidney dialysis room △ supporting funeral supplies and nutritional supplements for vulnerable groups △ dementia prevention activities △ leading the advancement of medical care and welfare in Jindo County.

Resident Park said, “This award recognizes Chairman Kim Do-gyun’s consistent medical volunteer work and sharing activities over the years, as well as his contributions to managing the health of neighbors in need and fostering a warm local community.”

Chairman Kim Do-gyun stated, “I believe this meaningful award is the result of continuously working alongside neighbors with the belief that sharing and volunteering are noble forms of love. I will continue to strive to make Jindo Jeonnam Hospital a hospital that coexists with the local community.”

Meanwhile, the Seoul Peace Culture Award is hosted by the Seoul Peace Culture Awards Committee and was established in 2007 to widely recognize leaders who take the lead for society and to realize social development and peace. It awards individuals and organizations that have played a pivotal role in national peace and regional community development, selecting recipients by professional fields.
