Yoon Mong-hyun Appointed as New CEO of Gwangju Global Motors

Yoon Mong-hyun, former Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company, has been appointed as the new CEO of Gwangju Global Motors.


Gwangju Global Motors announced on the 6th that it held an extraordinary shareholders' meeting and unanimously appointed Yoon Mong-hyun, former Vice President of Hyundai Motor Company, as the 3rd CEO.

CEO Yoon will officially begin his tenure with an inauguration ceremony on the morning of the 7th and will lead Gwangju Global Motors for the next two years.


Born in 1963 in Gangjin, Jeonnam, CEO Yoon graduated from Chosun University High School and majored in Business Administration at Sogang University.


He joined Hyundai Motor Company in 1986 and dedicated 35 years to the company. In his mid-40s, he rose to the rank of director, then was promoted to Managing Director in 2012, Executive Director in 2016, and Vice President in 2018.


He held key positions such as Head of Business Strategy and Head of Planning, and served as the General Manager of Hyundai Motor’s Turkey and China subsidiaries.


Industry consensus regards him as an automotive expert with outstanding abilities in policy and planning, as well as extensive overseas experience.


CEO Yoon will start his official duties on the morning of the 7th by touring the factory site following the inauguration ceremony.


Meanwhile, Park Kwang-tae, who served as the inaugural CEO since the founding of Gwangju Global Motors, held a retirement ceremony on the afternoon of the same day, concluding his term of over four years.
