DA Technology-V-Space Unveil Mass Production UAM Aircraft ‘V-SPEEDER X’

DA Technology announced on the 6th that V-Space has unveiled the mass production version of the UAM (Urban Air Mobility) aircraft, the ‘V-SPEEDER X’.

DA Technology and V-Space have upgraded the design and engineering of the existing pure electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) for mass production. Based on this, they plan to pursue commercialization starting from regions such as the United States and Europe, where category classifications like PART103 (ultralight aircraft) and PART107 (drone class) are applicable. Additionally, in Korea, initial commercialization is planned for cargo transport aircraft targeting the drone special free zones in the Gumi and Uiseong areas.

The V-SPEEDER X incorporates aerodynamic design by applying a smart control system and 5G communication system based on technology verified through demonstration by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The smart control system was developed in collaboration with Pohang Technopark and Gyeongbuk SW Promotion Center, while the 5G communication system was developed in cooperation with the Gumi Electronics and Information Technology Institute.

Since last year, DA Technology has been strengthening its collaboration system with V-Space for UAM battery development, contributing to the development of a high-safety, high-density UAM battery module. The developed UAM battery module minimizes contact resistance and meets the aviation standard (DP-160) that allows for delayed battery fire, which is expected to prepare for airworthiness certification that guarantees aircraft safety in the future.

A company representative explained, “The synergy was maximized by combining DA Technology’s advanced battery-related technology with V-Space’s UAM aircraft development expertise,” adding, “The V-SPEEDER X attracted attention when unveiled at the Dubai Airshow, one of the world’s top four airshows, and ADEX, Korea’s largest aerospace industry exhibition.”

They added, “With the mass production version of the UAM aircraft now unveiled, we will focus on the commercialization of UAM not only domestically but also overseas.”
