The special grant projects secured for the second half of this year include ▲ Construction of a Community-Oriented National Sports Center and Lifelong Learning Center for the Disabled (600 million KRW) ▲ Creation of a parking lot at Gochang-gun Social Welfare Town (300 million KRW) ▲ Reconstruction and remodeling of Buan-myeon Resident Autonomy Center (400 million KRW) ▲ Repair of aging retaining walls in Gosu Industrial Complex (600 million KRW) ▲ Maintenance of Galgokcheon Local Stream (700 million KRW) ▲ Reinforcement of Yongdu Drainage Gate in Sangha-myeon (400 million KRW), totaling six projects with 3 billion KRW secured.

The ‘Construction of a Community-Oriented National Sports Center and Lifelong Learning Center for the Disabled’ is one of the pledges of the 8th local government administration.

This project aims to expand basic facilities for the disabled and strengthen social activities by constructing a 3,500㎡ disabled gymnasium and lifelong learning center within the social welfare facility district in Yulgyeri, Gochang-eup. With the secured budget, the project is expected to gain further momentum.

The ‘Repair of aging retaining walls in Gosu Industrial Complex’ is a project to prevent disasters by repairing deteriorated retaining walls in the Gosu Industrial Complex, which was completed in the 1990s.

With successful attraction of eco-friendly and advanced companies, this project will also guarantee a safe production environment for existing tenant companies in the industrial complex, accelerating youth job creation and revitalization of the local economy.

Through the ‘Creation of a parking lot at Gochang-gun Social Welfare Town’ and ‘Reconstruction and remodeling of Buan-myeon Resident Autonomy Center,’ the welfare and convenience of residents will be enhanced. The ‘Maintenance of Galgokcheon Local Stream’ and ‘Reinforcement of Yongdu Drainage Gate in Sangha-myeon’ projects aim to prevent flooding of surrounding farmland during heavy rains and ensure the safety of residents.

County Governor Shim Deok-seop said, “I am pleased that the special grants will provide greater momentum for project implementation to resolve local issues and ensure residents’ safety despite difficult economic conditions such as the reduction of local allocation tax.” He added, “We will continue to communicate with central government ministries and always do our best to secure national funds to prioritize projects that put residents first.”

Meanwhile, in the first half of the year, the county secured 2.3 billion KRW for three projects: expansion of the Gochang Nongak Transmission Center (1 billion KRW), establishment of a media art experience zone at the Dolmen Museum (600 million KRW), and maintenance of Heungdeok Songnae Soha Stream (700 million KRW).
