Biden Trails Haley in Virtual Matchup... Deepening Concerns for US Democratic Party

Biden 37% vs Haley 41% in Virtual Matchup
Republican Trump Support Overwhelming... Support Rate in the 70% Range

U.S. President Joe Biden is trailing not only former President Donald Trump but also Nikki Haley, the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations and a rising dark horse in the Republican Party, according to a recent poll ahead of next November's presidential election. As it becomes increasingly difficult for President Biden's approval ratings to rebound, the Democratic Party's concerns are deepening.

On the 5th (local time), according to political media outlets The Hill and others, The Messenger and Harris conducted a poll from the 27th of last month to the 1st of this month targeting 2,018 registered voters. The results released that day showed President Biden's approval rating at 37%, trailing former Ambassador Haley's 41% by 4 percentage points.

In a hypothetical matchup between President Biden and former President Trump, Biden received 40% support while Trump garnered 47%, giving Trump a 7 percentage point lead.

However, in a hypothetical contest between President Biden and Ron DeSantis, the former Governor of Florida who is competing with Haley within the Republican Party, Biden led slightly with 41% support compared to DeSantis's 40%. This is interpreted as indicating that Haley is more competitive than DeSantis in the general election.

When looking only at Republican presidential candidates, support for former President Trump was overwhelming. Although many voters are seeking a third option, emerging forces still have not been able to defeat Trump.

In a one-on-one hypothetical matchup between Trump and Haley, Trump dominated with 76% support compared to Haley's 19%. Similarly, in a one-on-one matchup with DeSantis, Trump led with 73% support versus DeSantis's 21%, showing a large gap.

The Republican Party is scheduled to hold its fourth presidential candidate debate in Alabama on the 6th. Former President Trump is expected to skip the debate as he has done previously, and the contest between Haley and DeSantis is expected to draw attention.

While the Republican primary is attracting significant attention, the Democratic Party is facing serious concerns. President Biden's job approval rating stands at a modest 38%.

Democratic supporters are also voicing the need to prevent former President Trump from winning. This is why LinkedIn co-founder and major Democratic donor Reid Hoffman recently announced plans to donate to Republican Haley.

During a fundraising event for next year's election held in Massachusetts on the same day, President Biden stated, "If Trump were not running, I don't know if I would have sought re-election," adding, "But for the sake of this country, we cannot let him win."
