OCI Holdings announced on the 6th that its solar power-based social contribution activity, the 'Solar School Project,' has concluded its grand journey with Songdo High School in Incheon as the final stop.
The Solar School Project involved installing solar power facilities such as solar modules, structures, inverters, and solar power monitoring LCD monitors to help reduce the school's electricity bills by generating electricity through solar power. It was also conducted to enhance students' understanding of the principles and importance of solar power generation.
Since 2011, OCI Holdings has provided free installation of solar power facilities to a total of 300 domestic and international educational institutions, starting with Baengnyeong Elementary School and Bukpo Elementary School located on Baengnyeong Island in Incheon, as well as regions in Jeju, Chungnam, and Nepal.
In particular, priority was given to installing solar power facilities at elementary schools in relatively underserved island and remote areas with unstable electricity supply. Sung Kwang-hyun, Executive Director of OCI Holdings, stated, "We hope this will not only reduce costs through eco-friendly energy using solar power but also serve as an opportunity for students to grow with an interest in green energy such as solar power."
OCI Holdings is creating the 'OCI Forest,' an urban forest within Ichon Hangang Park, to contribute to reducing carbon emissions in the city. Recently, it signed a biodiversity conservation agreement with Gunsan University and plans to continue eco-friendly ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) projects aimed at coexistence with local residents.
