On the 5th, children from local daycare centers, who had previously received paper ‘sharing piggy banks,’ filled them up and visited the fundraising site in person, making the event even warmer.

The Love Thermometer is annually produced, installed, and donated by the Namhae Cheongsilhoe, which actively practices community development and volunteer work. This year, the fundraising goal was set at 170 million KRW. For every 1% of the goal, 1.7 million KRW, raised, the thermometer’s temperature rises by one degree.

Following the unveiling of the thermometer, the donation ceremony was held, where the Namhae-eup Village Leaders Association donated 1 million KRW, Namhae Cheongsilhoe 2 million KRW, the excellent village enterprise agricultural corporation Darangyi Farm 2 million KRW, and Ilbaek donated health drinks worth 11 million KRW. On this day alone, a total of 16,871,380 KRW was donated, adding to the warmth of sharing.

At the same time, the Gyeongnam Community Chest set up an on-site donation reception desk at the event venue to support fundraising activities, making it easy for passing residents to participate in donations. Additionally, the Duridarye Volunteer Group provided warm tea, and the Korea Federation of Entertainment Artists contributed warmth through sound support and talent donation performances. The Community Chest also provided 250 servings of fish cake through a food truck.

Governor Jang said, “I am grateful to many people every year for their warm hearts of love for neighbors through donations,” adding, “The thermometer has reached 20 degrees so far, with 80 degrees remaining, but I believe that with the warm sincerity of the residents this year, we will more than achieve the goal.”

Namhae-gun plans to continue collecting donations and support items for neighbors under the slogan ‘Make Myself Valuable Through Donation, Make Gyeongnam Valuable Through Donation’ for 62 days until January 31 next year through the Hope 2024 Sharing Campaign, aiming to reach a sharing temperature of 100 degrees.
